This week’s edition is on festivals featuring Yokohama’s artisans.

Today I’ll be introducing two festivals where you can enjoy Yokohama’s craftsmanship.

The Yokohama Skills Festival will be held on Sunday 2nd November from 10am-3:30pm, and the Yokohama Meister Festival will be held on Sunday 9th November from 10am-4pm.

Both events will be held at Odori Park and the Yokohama City Skills and Culture Center, near Kannai and Isezakichojamachi Stations. Admission is free.

There will be a variety of hands-on classes, including tofu making, painting, tatami strap making, tea ceremony, kumiko coaster making, pruning classes, and making Japanese-patterned business card holders. 

Demonstrations by artisans will also be held, along with exhibitions and sales of their works.

There will also be food and drink booths, where visitors can enjoy foods such as hot dogs and curry.

Some hands-on classes will prioritize advance bookings, so please check the website of each festival for details.
