Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
8th October 2025
This week’s edition is on routine Covid19 vaccinations.
Routine vaccinations, with part of the cost covered by public funds, are available from 1st October to 28th February next year.
Those eligible are people aged 65 and over, and those aged 60-64 with applicable disabilities. As a rule, the co-payment is 7,000 yen.
Vaccination is a personal decision, so please consult your family doctor or other healthcare provider to understand the effects and side effects etc. when considering vaccination.
For more information, search "Yokohama City Covid19 vaccine", and view the city’s webpage.
For enquiries about vaccination, please call the ‘Yokohama City Vaccinations Call Center’. Calls will be handled in Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Nepali.
The telephone number is 045-330-8561.
Calls will be answered between 9am and 5pm, except for on weekends and national holidays, and at year end/new year.
Daily infection control is also important. After going out, or if you get mucus or phlegm on your palms etc, wash your hands with soap and dry them thoroughly with a clean towel or paper towels. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is also effective.
When coughing or sneezing, cover your nose and mouth with a mask or tissues etc.
Wearing a mask is ultimately a personal decision, but in places such as medical institutions, elderly care facilities, and crowded trains and buses, take care to avoid spraying droplets around through coughs and sneezes.
When indoors, ventilate rooms frequently. Get plenty of rest and eat a balanced diet to help prevent illness.
