Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
1st October 2025
This week’s edition is on the national population census.
The national population census will be conducted with 1st October 2025 as the base date.
The census is conducted every five years and is the country’s most important statistical survey, covering all households and people who reside in Japan.
There will be 17 survey questions on topics such as the year and month of birth, nationality, occupation and type of housing.
All foreign residents of Japan are also covered and are required to respond.
The results of the survey will be used as basic information for measures such as stocking items necessary in a disaster in the necessary places, planning the establishment of new daycare centers, and creating a city that is comfortable to live in.
Paper census forms were distributed to each household between 20th and 30th September.
Please respond by 8th October.
Responses can be submitted via the internet in English, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Please enter your “Login ID/Access Key” to respond. These were distributed to every household.
If you use the QR code, you can skip entering your “Login ID/Access Key”, making it even easier to log in and answer the questions.
If you would like to respond via the paper questionnaire, please put it in the enclosed dedicated envelope and send it by 8th October.
The city has also prepared a "census form translation" in 27 languages.
Please cooperate in this important survey, which can be used for various measures that are essential to our everyday life.
