Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
2nd July 2025
This week's edition is on 'Yokohama France Month 2025'.
'Yokohama France Month' is a festival celebrating French culture and gastronomy that has been held every year since 2005. This year, it is taking place between 13th June and 28th July.
During the festival period, a variety of events that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike are being held in the city's art galleries, art spaces and restaurants etc. The events include photo exhibitions, lectures, film screenings and workshops.
To mark the 15th anniversary of the registration of French gastronomy as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, an exhibition is being held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1. It’s called “The World of French Gastronomy - The 15th Anniversary of UNESCO Registration”. It introduces the daily habits and culture of the French people in relation to food through photographs, installations, and panel displays.
As a related event, on 11th July, a lecture on "French Table Manners" will be given by Yasuo Kuboki, translator of the best-selling book by Philippe Dumas, a member of the Hermès family.
Admission is free for all of the events that have been introduced. Advance booking is required for lecture sessions.
A variety of other events are also taking place, including special menus at the city's restaurants and related events at art museums.
